I’ve always been a fan of seafood. Fortunately Birmingham is home to several wonderful seafood establishments. Read on to find out about some in town.
1. Half-shell oyster house
Half Shell Oyster House is a southern seafood restaurant that will arrive in Birmingham in January 2020. After opening its Lakeview location, Half Shell will follow with a second location in Trussville.

2. Public House 5-point oyster bar
5 Points Public Oyster House is a cross between an oyster house and a pub. Located in the heart of 5 Points South, the Oyster House offers a relaxing atmosphere with delicious seafood. Plus, you can choose from over 30 craft beers, including some of Birmingham’s local breweries.

3. The king of seafood
The Seafood King specializes in Cajun-style seafood. In addition to their Homewood location, The Seafood King has just opened a new location in Hoover.

4. Automatic seafood
Since Automatic Seafood opened in Lakeview in April, they have quickly grown into one of Birmingham’s leading seafood establishments. In fact, Automatic was recently named the 8th Best New Restaurant in America by Esquire Magazine!

5. Ocean
Another 5 Points South staple, Ocean has been a mainstay since it opened in 2002. Plus, they’ve won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence and the AAA Four Diamond Award for the past 13 years.
