This Bond Street Thai spot marries seafood and Southeast Asian dishes to palatable levels of delight. Zabb wings, which originally had feathers and not fins, are a standout entry and a favorite among local food writers and regulars. Po Tak, a lemongrass soup with pollack, shrimp, mussels, squid, bird’s eye peppers and mushrooms, is extremely satisfying. Likewise, the spicy coconut crab curry is heartwarming and the crab fried rice is bursting with flavor with every bite.

Mostly a single long (but attractive) bar counter, this seafood-centric spot in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood is both a market and a restaurant. So there is no doubt that what you will get will be super fresh. There’s lots of crudo and ceviche, but also fun stuff like fish and chips, fish tacos, fried fish sandwiches, and lobster rolls to devour deliciously.

Opened in the summer of 2019, this East Village seafood restaurant has become an instant hit since they shelled their first oyster in this attractive space. The chef does an admirable job here cooking anything with fins, claws or seashells. Start with the red snapper taquitos and perfectly executed grilled octopus before moving on to the sea urchin and bottarga pasta and seared scallops. The dazzling 175-seat space, with full murals, twinkling mermaids, and painted lamps, is a feast for the eyes.

The best seafood restaurant in the United States? Very possible. If you’re not a believer, make a reservation at super chef Eric Ripert’s stylish Midtown restaurant and find out for yourself. Ripert is a seafood cooking magician, using his knowledge and training in French to take everything up a notch (or three). If you’re not ready for the prix fixe multi-course menu options just for lunch and dinner, choose to sit in the lounge where there are a la carte options.

Launched by Mary Redding – who had been to the legendary Pearl’s Oyster Bar – in 2001, this West Village neighborhood spot offers consistently solid New England-style seafood dishes with a worldly twist. Newbies should be contractually obligated to get the lobster roll as it is one of the best on this side of Cape Cod. But the lunchtime po’boy oyster and Portuguese sardine banh mi sandwiches are also excellent. At dinner, the shellfish bouillabaisse is a fun treat.

Waiting for a table at this iconic Greek restaurant, located right in the heart of Astoria’s row of Greek restaurants, has long been part of the experience – lest you like to eat well when they fire their burners. As you can guess, Kyclades is the place to go in queens for mediterranean style seafood delicacies. Make sure you have smelt and anchovies, then anything from the main course seafood menu and you will walk away happy. There are also outposts in Bayside and the East Village.
